Beginners Scrambling (2 day)

BEGINNERS SCRAMBLING COURSE – SNOWDONIA

Duration: 6 – 8 hours
Difficulty: Easy/ Moderate

Participants – Minimum 1 person. Maximum 6 people

Designed for competent hill walkers who want to make the transition into exploring grade 1/2 scrambling terrain. This course covers the basics of navigation, movement skills and simple rope techniques for emergency situations

This course can be tailored to groups of most ages and abilities. Minimum age – 8 years old.

Participants should have some basic hill walking experience and be comfortable in steep mountain terrain. A good head for heights is essential.

If you have been on one of our Guided Scrambling days previously, this course is the next logical step towards becoming an autonomous scrambler.

A basic understanding of map and compass Navigation will be useful, but not essential.

Day 1

10:00am – Meet your instructor

6 – 7 hours of training, covering the basics required to explore grade 1 terrain, including techniques such as route selection, navigation on steeper terrain and tips for safeguarding others

16:00 pm – Depart

Day 2

10:00am – Meet your instructor and distribute kit (Harnesses, helmets, safety kit)

6-7 hours of training, recapping on day 1 before taking a look at some basic rope work techniques, self rescue procedures as well as some more complex route finding techniques.
